The Matthew Marth Quartet will be taking the stage at Reigen Live Vienna in early November as part of the Vienna Jazz Floor Festival. The quartet is lining up a colorful program, including new charts by saxophonist Marth and guitarist Çagri Beklen, as well as some irresistible evergreens from the Brazilian jazz songbook. Highlights will include the ambiguously sad Pra Machucar Meu Coração by the late Brazilian maestro Ary Barroso, two catchy and varied compositions by guitarist Beklen in the direction of bossa-jazz fusion, 25 and Blue, and two samba toe-tappers in which the quartet attempts to fit a jazz big band into the small body of a jazz quartet: an old-meets-new salute to classic Brazilian big band jazz by Marth entitled Blissful Ignorance and one of Chico Buarque de Hollanda’s masterpieces, Bom Tempo.
Please join us for a evening of heart, mind, grooves, passion and chillaxin’. The club is also well set up to help us stay safe during the coronavirus pandemic. Come out for a good time and in solidarity with Reigen and the diverse Viennese jazz scene!
